About Danny Outlaw: Part 1

A lot of people have been emailing me asking to do interviews, about my experiences freelancing abroad, and other such things. Who can blame, I am after all a pretty cool guy! Anyways, I have decided to make a multi part series rather than create a boring “about me” page that no one would ever read anyways. Love it or hate it, here it is….

At the time of this writing I am 26, living in Costa Rica, and writing this blog post from a hammock. A few of the regular readers have asked that I share a little bit more about myself than what is posted on the about page. As a result, I have created a multi-part series that will give you a behind the scenes look at the life of the man you now know as Danny Outlaw.

The Early Years

Nothing to exciting here, I had a pretty standard childhood. I was born in Orlando, Florida where I was raised by dad (self employed craftsmen) and my mom (elementary school teacher). My sister Vanessa came a few years after me.

I should have known early on that I would end up a graphic designer. I remember when we got our first computer. It had a clip art program and a dot matrix printer. I created a graphic designer business sign, printed it out, colored it in with markers, and taped it upon my bedroom door.

I was always trying to make money creating things on that computer. Any time there was a yard sale in the family, I was on it. Birthday cards, piece of cake.

The only other really interesting story here has to do with a magazine subscription.

Entrepreneur From an Early Age

When I was in late elementary school I had a fund raiser for school selling magazine subscriptions. Rather than my parents buying a magazine subscription for themselves, they let me pick out one for myself.

At that age there aren’t a whole lot of magazines geared to my liking. There was the Disney magazine, Nickelodeon, Ranger Rick, etc. Any of those seemed like a logical choice for a child my age. But, I was different. I had dreams, goals, and aspirations.

So, what magazine did I order? The same magazine any wannabe business owner would get; Entrepreneur Magazine. Yes. I was an elementary going school kid with a subscription to Entrepreneur Magazine. Who would have thought?

And yes, I did have friends.
