Free Basecamp - ActiveCollab
Basecamp is an online application that lets you mange projects more efficiently. It is basically an online to-do list on steroids. It helps make a complicated process much more streamlined, keeps you more organized, and helps make even the smallest designer more professional. Sound like a great tool? It is, only problem with it, is that it cost money.
Lucky for you, there is a free version of Basecamp; sort of. A college student came across Basecamp and really liked the idea of it. But, as with any college student, he didn’t have the money to spend on it so, he decided to create his own. Thus ActiveCollab (free basecamp) was born.
Here are a few quick highlights about ActiveCollab (free basecamp):
• Easy to install and easy to use
• Web-based. After installation only thing you’ll need to use it is web browser
• 100% open source, 100% free
• No limitations on number of projects, clients, team members…
• Per project permissions
• And tons of other features being worked on
Why I love ActiveCollab (free basecamp)
I’m an obsessive compulsive organizer. I write to-do list on my to-do lists. ActiveCollab (free basecamp) lets me keep things a little better organized and makes managing multiple clients and projects much easier.
Once I get a new client, I automatically create a project for them in ActiveCollab (free basecamp). After that initial setup, all communication from there on out is done through the system. I rarely even email clients anymore and when I do it’s to tell them to check their project in ActiveCollab (free basecamp).
Another really nice feature about ActiveCollab (free basecamp) that web designers are sure to love is that you can completely create your own design via CSS. Check out some of the few that have been created thus far here.
Have you used Thus ActiveCollab (free basecamp) before? What did you think of it?
