A template site recently came to my attention. Templates.com isn’t like every other website template site out there. This site offers a one stop shop for premium design resources like icon sets, templates, and more. A quick look around the site might surprise you if you are one of those designer who have sworn off template sites.

Buying
The products represented at Templates.com may be bought for credits, but they also have a number of free downloads as well. . Note 1 credit is equal to 1 USD. In addition to the premium products, there are also a number of free downloads as well. The site currently includes about 10000 items to choose from.

I have never been big on website templates, this site offer much more than that. Currently for sale on the site is professionally developed illustrations, website & flash templates, 3D models, icon sets, wallpapers, etc.

Selling
They also offer a nice program where designers can sell their work as well. They offer a 50% commission on each sale. All you have to do to start selling is open a free account and start uploading your stuff. If you have ever checked out any of stock and template sites, you know that not many of them offer such a huge commission on sales. If nothing else, the site is a good place to sell off your mock ups or practice projects.

I think stock designers would find the site to be a great way increase sales as well. With such a great URL, this site is bound for great things. If an icon designer got into this website early, they could really dominate, as thier are only a limited amount of unique icon designers on the site.

Final Thoughts
As far as template sites go, Templates.com is a decent site for buying, selling and exploring pre-made design templates. If you want to keep up with whats going on, check out the Templates.com blog.
